Royal Veterinary College

Shopkit have recently completed a complex manufacturing and installation project in the Royal Veterinary College’s new library building at the Hawkshead Campus, Hatfield, through Architecture PHB Group Inc and Willmott Dixon Group. 

The contract included six irregular shaped large glass and wood cabinets that were installed around the main stairwell of the three floors of the new building as well as a glass encased floor to ceiling suspended display area on the ground floor.  The complicated angles involved in the tapering design of the stairwell cabinets required various Shopkit components to be custom made and assembled on site, forming an integral part of the angular design of the stairwell in the building. 

The end result is a beautiful seamless transition between the wood and glass surfaces traversing the three floors of the building which also provides extensive integral secure display spaces for rare books and artifacts, as can be seen in these photographs.
